The elements of ISO 14001 are
- Planning: Definition of environmental objectives and associated measures
- Implementation: Implementation of the defined measures
- Control: Review of the procedures and measures with regard to the company’s environmental objectives and environmental policy
- Improvement: Adaptation and further development of the procedures and measures as well as the environmental objectives and environmental policy
ISO 14001 is applicable to companies of all types and sizes. The standard does not specify absolute requirements for environmental performance. The requirements of the standard can therefore also be met by two similar companies if both achieve different environmental performances.
